Time went FAST

It's been forever since I've updated everyone...I knew I wouldn't be good at this :)~ I'm going to give it another shot though!

Sydney is doing so well! She is as amazing as ever and learning new things everyday. She must have a few hundred words in her vocabulary already. The other day she opened a book flap and said "trumpet" to the little boy that was playing the trumpet...I don't remember teaching her that and Marty said he did either so....hmmm, no idea where she got that one from :)
She is climbing all over everything, is more independent, not wanting help eating at all anymore, and loves all her baby dolls. She is such a good little girl. She even puts herself in timeout when she feels she has done something wrong...crazy little turkey!
She was potty training for about two weeks at 20 months but once those pull-ups went on she started using them! And it hasn't been the same since. Of course I lost my motivation as well so who's to blame? :)
I am loving that Marty is now working the day shift at the hospital. It gives us more quality time together at night, although some of it is lost since he has so much work to do for his Master's program. I just can't wait until school is over for him...like 18 months to go or something.

Our Vegetable Garden

The veggie garden has been an amazing project for our entire family. We started with seeds and an inside mini-green house and grew some great starter plants BUT all those plants died cause of our wonderful NW weather....except for the lettuce and MAN do we have a ton of that! But we waited a while and then bought plants from the nursery and now we have amazing crops.
Zucchini, peppers, cucumbers, green beans and tomatoes! The lettuce has been delicious but we haven't eaten anything else yet. I really can't wait for the tomatoes to come up in August...we are going to have so many I'm not sure I going to know what to do with them! Just taking all of Grandpa Joe's advice and making the garden the best it can be :)
Here are some pictures of the garden and pictures of Sydney watering :)

Never thought I would be bloggin, but with my family across the country and a ton of friends in Hawaii (all with blogs), I thought I would give it a go!

I'm trying to figure this all out, layout and pictures so this first entry is just a short one...just like my baby girl Sydney Elizabeth! Here is what I've already posted on facebook yesterday!

Sydney is the most amazing little girl. She is only 18 months old and she is doing so much more than what is expected of a little one her age....not that I'm bias or anything :) Just today, she was watching Dora and pointed to the treasure chest and said "treasure" and I just could not believe it. She has so many words..I was thinking about actually writing a list of all of them just so I would have some sort of record of everything....but I'm really bad about documenting things which isn't a very good habit. I need to get a notebook or something. Or maybe catching the blog wave isn't such a bad idea.

Some of her words: Mommy, Daddy, baby sowie, nighnight, light, open, off, ball, duck, bear, bird, sheeshee, Dora, sasha, Aunty(signs) Tracey, Kawa, Erik, Grandma, Papa, booby, milk, wawa, cheese, turkey, chicken, peas, crackers, fishes, diaper, nose, teeth, neck, cheek, knee, applesauce, cereal, egg, bread, park, sock, shoe, owie, book, Addy, Scotty, Bella, Raef, Riley, Boots, please, thank you, sorry, stroller...
(and the list goes on but this is all I have for now)...Not all her words are clear but I understand them and she is great with using her baby sign language and saying those few words that we have taught her.

And she understands so much more. She can follow two step directions, knows the importance of time out and says "sorry" when she is sitting on the stairs...she loves to dance and looks adorable doing it, loves running, climbing at the park, going down the slide, kicking a soccer ball, riding her bike (well she can't really reach the pedals yet), going for a run in the stroller, playing in the sand, watering the gardens and digging in it and getting really dirty, splashing in the bath so high the water sometimes touches the ceiling, swim lessons (mommy & me), and so much more.

She loves her family so much. She understands that Daddy goes to work, that he sleeps in for a little longer than us in the morning and that she gets to wake him up with a sweet kiss first thing before he gets out of bed....she knows when Mommy puts on her ipod and running pants that she is going out for a run...she knows that when she grabs my phone and says "PAPA" that I will get him on the phone or that when I go onto the computer and pull up Skype she can see and hear Riley....and there is just so much more.

This is just the beginning of the first 18 months of her life. Sydney is so amazing and we love her more than words can say. We thank God often for her precious life and pray that she will continue to become a girl that continues to amaze us all!
