Almost a year later...

Shane Joseph was born on May 29, 2011 and is such a blessing to our family! He was 7 lbs. 9ozs and 20 inches long! Born via c-section and a perfect recovery...of course our time in the hospital was a little different. My father came in from NY almost a full week early and was such an amazing help with Sydney! I was able to rest and get things ready for the new addition! May 29th was a Sunday...Memorial Day weekend. Saturday I got really sick with the stomach flu. It was horrible. The Dr. told me not to eat anything cause it would just come right out one way or another....plus I already wasn't allowed to eat 8 hours before surgery so this was going to be really exciting....yeah, right......so I was weak, sick and only allowed water and nothing once the 8 hours before the surgery began. Well, I was feeling better so I knew that everything was going to be just fine and I was super excited to meet my little boy. Sunday morning my father woke up at 1:30am and was running to the bathroom non-stop. Awesome, right? NOT. Well, I got up at 5:30 to shower and get everything ready....then Marty got sick a little after 6am,oh things were going so so great, let me tell ya! Well, we were lucky that they let Marty into the hospital at this point because he hadn't thrown up yet so they weren't too concerned...well, a little but they let him stay with me. Into surgery we went and after I was numb from neck to toes and the Dr. was minutes away from cutting the baby out Marty says he's gonna be sick. The nurse gets a bucket and they both go out of the OR and he lets it go....great! Well he came back inside and was with me during surgery and was right by my side! Yeah, Shane came out and as Marty took that first look at him, with all the fluids on him and everything, he headed out the door again....and threw up again....so this is now the second child and the second time something has happened in the OR! (With Sydney he had to pass the video camera to the nurse and sit down because he felt like he was going to faint.) He was a trooper though! Right after getting back to my room, Papa and Sydney were there to meet Shane! She was wonderful. It was great to have my Dad there too :) But they asked them all to leave for the health of all the other patients....so Marty was not able to spend the first two nights with me at the hospital like he was able to with Sydney. Bummer. Yeah. Totally. I was exhausted at the end of the time there and couldn't wait to get home. It was nice to have help with the baby besides paging the nurses to come and rescue me for a little while. BUT four months later and everything is great. Sydney is an amazing big sister and Shane is such a cutie pie :) I'm going to try to blog again. Maybe if I do it more often with more pictures and less words it won't be so bad! **Christy
